The cabin offers a huge open great room, fireplace, with an open kitchen, 2 full baths, a large upstairs bedroom and full bath , a downstairs bedroom and a full bath, can sleep up to 8/9, new redwood decking overlooking the river, swimming hole, fishing, and hiking on the Pony Express hiking trails and climbing on Sugar Loaf Mt. The cabin has propane central heat, cozy fireplace (wood provided) and is equipped with all the necessary living accommodations including WFI and Netflix. There is hiking on the Pony Express Trail just across the Highway on Sugar Loaf Ave ( climbing Mountain). In a few steps you can enjoy your own swimming hole, fishing, tubing, sledding, or relaxing by the river, You can take a short scenic drive to Tahoe. Nestled in the Sierra Foothills and perched right on the American River, this relaxing getaway is just waiting for you. Come relax at our mountain river retreat. It consists of the main cabin which as 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and two woodstoves. There is a large deck overlooking the river and a custom built-in bbq. The property is fenced on three sides with direct access to the river on the 4th. ***6 people maximum--infants and toddlers are not included in this number*** ***NO PETS*** ***NO DOGS IN THE CABIN*** WELCOME Welcome to our cabin! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do. We (the two of us plus our 5-year old daughter) go up as much as possible. There are driveway gates that you will need to open (inward) when you arrive. They are not locked. Be sure to close and latch the gates after you arrive to keep them from blowing in the wind or hitting the driveway if they blow outwards. We have a fully stocked kitchen with spices, some coffee/tea and kitchen utensils/appliances. There are more pots/pans/other kitchen items in the mudroom (pot rack and in the cabinet). There is a Keurig and a coffee maker stored in the lower drawer of the pantry in the hallway. Please—absolutely no gatherings and no parties! Our neighbors all have been informed that we are renting out our cabin and El Dorado County has a strict good-neighbor policy, which provides neighbors a number to call for complaints which can result in fines for you (and unhappy neighbors). BOARD GAMES/TOYS/KIDS' BOOKS We have a variety of games (Cards Against Humanity, dominoes) and poker chips/cards under the tv cabinet in the living room. There is Candy Land for the kids. There are also a few toys that our daughter plays with, along with a number of kid books. Feel free to use them! FISHING There are trout in the American River. You should have your license as the DNR travels down Silverfork regularly. SWIMMING We do not recommend swimming in the river. The current is usually very fast and the water is cold. We are not responsible for any accidents if you choose to get into the river. WASHER/DRYER There is a washer/dryer in the living room closet. Soap/bleach is on the shelf. Please leave the washer door open when not in use. TOWELS/LINENS/TOILETRIES There should be plenty of towels/sheets. Each bathroom has shampoo, soap, along with hairdryers (under the sinks). We do stock extra toilet paper but if you are a large group, please be sure to bring extra in case you need it. GARBAGE/RECYCLING Garbage is picked up early Wednesday mornings. Please put all garbage/recycling in the bear box just outside of the driveway gates by Tuesday night. Do not leave garbage anywhere else outside as there are bears. You will be charged $5/bag if you leave behind more garbage than is expected (we have had guests leave 7 (!) bags of garbage during their one-night stay). Please take it with you if you have more. INTERNET PASSWORD/LOGIN The login and Password in found in the House Manual. Our internet connection is fairly stable, but there are times when it goes out for a few minutes (not our fault—this is related to AT&T). Just be patient—it will come back on. CELL PHONE RECEPTION We use Verizon and we haven’t had any issues with cell phone reception. IN CASE POWER GOES OUT We do have a propane-powered generator that will come on a few seconds after the power goes out. It can run for up to 14 days, but please be sure to turn off all unnecessary appliances like hair dryers/toaster oven since it is only designed to keep the lights on and the propane furnace going. CHILDREN/SAFETY We welcome families with children to our cabin. Just be aware that there is easy access to the river which runs fast and cold. Be careful around the windows in the living room—there are screens on the windows, but these are not childproof. A child could easily fall out of the windows by pushing on the screen. WOODSTOVES There are two woodstoves in the cabin. Be sure that you open the flues before using. The flue opener in the dining room woodstove can be found towards the back. Turn it vertical to open, and when finished, turn it horizontal to close. The flue controller for the living room wood stove is found in the front (a small silver-colored rod). These stoves get extremely hot so please keep children away from them at all times. GRILL/BBQ INSTRUCTIONS There is a TEC Infrared grill on the deck. The directions are on the front of the grill. PLEASE—per directions, if you can’t get it to light, wait 5 minutes before starting it again. Gas can build up and it will ignite! Please clean the bbq before leaving! To clean--turn to high for 10 minutes but be sure to not leave it like this! HEATERS There is a propane heater in the living room and this can put out enough heat to warm the entire first floor. It will be set to 40 when you arrive. Note that the actual temperature in the room will be about 10 degrees warmer than what the heater detects. There are also radiator-like heaters in the bedrooms. These are set to ‘freeze’ function which allows us to leave the cabin for extended periods of time without having to winterize. Please adjust the heat so you feel comfortable when you arrive; a setting between 2 and 3 will keep it at about 64 degrees. There is a small fan by the heater in the living room. We use that to push the heat out into the dining room area. IN CASE OF SNOW We do not have a snow-removal service for the driveway (Kyburz is a bit isolated and it is difficult to find anyone to do this for us). There is a de-icing mix near the mudroom door (outside) that you can use on the driveway, along with snow-shovels. The street is snow-plowed by the county. Be aware that there may be chain restrictions so be sure you have a set before coming to the cabin in the winter. We are at 4000 feet but Echo Summit, just ½ hour drive towards South Lake Tahoe, is over 7,000 feet. Last year (2019) we had 2 major rounds of snow, 3 to 4 feet each storm. Please get weather reports before heading out. OUTDOOR FURNITURE We keep teak chairs/cushions in the mudroom, along with an umbrella for the picnic table in the mudroom. Please be sure to put all the furniture away when you are leave and keep the umbrella down when not in use (which will prevent it from flying away). There is a broom in the mudroom to sweep the deck. The cleaner does not do this as there are leaves/small branches constantly fall and it is impossible to keep spotless (you are, after all, in a forest!). PROPANE TANK The stove, heater, and grill are powered by propane. We have a company top it off on their schedule. Please make room for them if they need to fill the tank. SEPTIC TANK We have a septic tank, which means: please don't put anything unnecessary down the drains or toilets. The septic system can handle toilet paper, human waste and water from showers, etc, but nothing else. You will be responsible for the cost of a plumber if something else is put down the toilets. PETS Not pets. SHOPPING/PLACES TO EAT There is a Safeway in Pollack Pines (about 18 miles west of the cabin), along with a few restaurants, and a few small mini-marts on Highway 50 on the way to the cabin. There is also a small breakfast place in Kyburz. Of course there are lots of places to eat/shop in South Lake Tahoe. STEALING We have had things stolen from our cabin by guests. This is our house and we expect guests to not steal our belongings. We will charge you with replacement and shipping costs, as well as calling the police and filing a report. DAMAGE You are responsible for any damage you do to our cabin. We realize that accidents happen, so please let us know if anything breaks. WHAT TO DO WHEN LEAVING Leave the following lights on: the desk lamp in the living room; the light just over the sliding glass doors to the deck; the entryway light in the hallway; and the light just inside the mudroom (these are smart lights and we keep them on when we are not there). Please turn the rest off. Deflate all air mattresses and put them away. Turn heat propane heater to 40 degrees. DO NOT JUST TURN THEM OFF. You will be responsible if you turn the heaters off and the pipes freeze. Set electric radiator-like heaters in the bedrooms to ‘freeze setting’ (the snowflake symbol). This will keep the upstairs from freezing. Take off dirty sheets and put them on the floor by the washer/dryer, along with towels. Put all dishes in the dishwasher and turn on. Wash all other dishes and put them in the drying rack. Take out your recycling and trash to the bear box. Do not leave garbage anywhere else on the property. Clean the grill and surrounding area. Put cover back on the grill. Make sure all doors are locked and shades are closed. The electronic locks can be locked by hitting the “Schlage” name on the locks. Be sure that the deadbolt in the door to the upstairs balcony is locked (this door will blow open if not locked). Make sure the flues are closed and shut the gates when you leave. About the Cabin The cabin has a crafted pine interior completed over the years by our family. We have made the place our own over the decades and love sharing it with everyone! It’s best for 2-4 singles, 2-3 couples and families with 2-3 children. We use the cabin year round, and it includes 2 private bedrooms, a living room, dining room, complete kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. The living room includes a 4K TV with a full collection of blu-rays and DVD’s. We read a lot too, so feel free to enjoy our books while you’re visiting, and please leave them when you depart. You will find the cabin professionally cleaned with linens, towels, toiletries, dishes, glasses, cookware and utensils provided. The cabin is fully equipped with electric heaters and a fireplace. Activities very near the cabin include hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, downhill skiing/snowboarding, cross country skiing and a sledding snow park. Some of the best mountain biking and hiking trails in the world begin just a few miles away. You can easily spend a weekend here without wanting to go to Lake Tahoe, but it’s easily accessible if you feel the urge. Winter Use: During winter months we can get a lot of snow. Four-wheel-drive vehicles or chains may be required on Hwy 50 at times, and guests may need to shovel snow to get to the entryway, potentially a lot of it during big storms. This is a mountain cabin, not a motel! Check weather conditions and prepare accordingly. All access roads and the 2 car driveway are plowed during storm events. All linens, towels, cookware and dishes are provided. NO outdoor fires (fireplace is OK!)

This cozy cabin is located is in Twin Bridges, CA /Strawberry (Heights) CA right off Highway 50 near the historical Strawberry Lodge. It has one bedroom downstairs with a new queen bed and two bedroom loft upstairs. This year-round retreat makes a great weekend or vacation get-a-away. It's located between two National forests and is six miles/10 minutes from Sierra at Tahoe Ski Resort, Echo Lake and 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe. This location is a splendid place for outdoor enthusiasts. The cabin is near the Pony Express Trail and Lover's Leap: a hot spot for rock climbers and hikers. In spring and summer, take a boat ride across Echo Lake and more trails await you. Lake Aloha is another day hike possibility. Outdoor adventures abound! This cabin was built in the 50's and is surrounded by towering redwood trees and has a large deck for relaxing. There is both a floor furnace and a wood fireplace with an insert which quickly heats the cabin. There is firewood available onsite. All the beds have down comforters and pillows, and flannel sheets. If you want to make a nice meal after a long day of fun, the clean and well-appointed kitchen is well-stocked with all the necessary kitchen supplies and more. The cabin has Direct TV and a DVD player. Spend time watching a movie, playing a family board game or air hockey. This hide-away feels remote, yet it is close enough to Sierra at Tahoe Ski Resort or a walk to Strawberry Lodge for a meal, ice cream or a game of checkers on their large built-in checker board. Strawberry Market is across the street from the lodge and has new owners and lots of tasty items. It's a great place to grab a coffee and visit with other travelers. The driveway is plowed during the winter months after a large storm. There is storage in the shed for your outdoor gear and boots. There is a two-night minimum stay. If it's a holiday and/or a three-day weekend, a three night minimum stay is preferred. Between Christmas and New Years, a four-night minimum is desired, so the cleaning crew can enjoy the holiday season as well. While there are homes to each side, the view from most rooms is a verdant forest with abundant wildlife. Wicker Moose Manor is a spacious 3,600 square feet, so there's plenty of room for multiple families. The house has two living rooms each with wood and pellet burning stoves, comfortable seating, large windows that bring in plenty of natural light, and televisions. Upstairs has a large wall mounted flat screen, as well as downstairs, where board games, foozeball and a shuffle table are kept. There are two master bedroom suites, both with windows, private bathrooms with plenty of light and large mirrors, and closet space. The home has many electrical outlets, so there is no fighting for a space to charge your devices. Pocket doors allow you to close off a room to keep the noise down in other parts of the home. The kitchen, dining room, and upstairs master all have sliding glass doors enabling you to bring the outdoors in. The back deck has plenty of space for you to sit and listen to the creek and the birds fluttering about. Breathe in the fresh, crisp mountain air and relax! The garage is perfect for storing your outdoor gear like kayaks, fishing gear, ice chests, bikes, and skiis or snowboards. The Retreat is a double A frame home of 1800 sq. ft., with 3 bedrooms (Master Bedroom upstairs, 2nd & 3rd bedrooms are on main level). There is a cozy loft upstairs with a large TV & sofa bed (double). It looks out large windows into open forest area. The sofa bed provides sleeping for the extra 2 guests (#7 & 8) for which there is an additional $15 per guest, per night)The bedrooms, loft & stairs are carpeted. There are three entries, each tiled with Mexican quarry tile. The downstairs bathroom floor is tiled; the master bathroom (upstairs) has bamboo flooring. The halls, living room, dining area & kitchen have oak floors. Each full bathroom is senior-friendly. The living room/dining room (with a Norwegian Jotul gas fireplace) is located off an open style gourmet kitchen ready to inspire any chef or relax those wanting to reduce their meal preparation time. The kitchen has a new gas range & oven, new refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, waffle iron, mixer, blender, garbage disposal & is fully equipped with cooking & eating dishes & utensils. Both the master & downstairs bathrooms are newly renovated with tiled walk-in tub size showers, grab bars & seats as well as ergonomically designed Toto toilets. Each has a hair dryer. The Retreat has 3 TVs: in the loft (with Roku/Netflix streaming & DVD player); in the twin bedroom (with DVD player) & in the kitchen (so the cooks can watch, too). 1800 sq. ft. of cantilevered wood decking surrounds our home, looking out into forested land. Enjoy sitting at our 10 ft. long custom pine table to eat or enjoy relaxing there while watching the occasional deer, wild turkeys, squirrels & many variety of birds. (Guests will find bird seed to stock the feeders in a closet off the main entry door.) Enjoy making BBQ on the Weber located near the pine table (with supplies in a deck closet nearby). All bed, bath & kitchen linens are provided. The neighborhood offers two community swimming pools (solar heated/ open during summer months/requiring a pass key), a tennis court (BYO equipment), shuffleboard court (ditto), disk golf course (ditto), communal picnic area with BBQ grills & walking trails through the forest beginning outside the back gate to our deck. Although the Retreat is secluded and quiet, there are well maintained roads allowing guests to reach an assortment of activities with only short drives. The wineries of El Dorado & Amador Counties are small, usually family owned, producing delicious reds, whites, roses & sparkling varietals. Many of these wineries are now winning State Competitions for the superb wines they produce. Visitors are greeted with enthusiasm, friendly vintners ready to answer all questions & proud to serve guests free tastings. Some visitors enjoy panning for gold (Especially as they generally find bits!)! El Dorado County remains one of the best places in the state to do that. Experienced gold panniers all have their favorite spots, but two generally acknowledged as excellent are Pi Pi campground and Cache Rock. Late summer & fall brings opportunities for picking berries or other fruits at one of the many U-Pick Farms along I-50. Added to that are the pleasures of apple picking & celebrating the many baked, canned & dried apple products at Apple Hill in Camino during their Apple Festival. Activities of every kind abound: Hiking the trails along the lakes and rivers, visiting historical sites relating to the Gold Rush, searching for treasures in the antique stores of historic Placerville (aka - formerly - Old Hang Town), eating at quality restaurants, even visiting Red Hawk, a recently opened casino in the area. There are more activities to experience than time in which to do them! Winter months allow skiing (cross country & down hill), snow boarding, all within less than an hour's drive from The Jade Retreat. Weather during the winter can vary greatly at our elevation (4100 ft.) so guests are cautioned to check weather reports before coming and to always carry chains if their car is not 4-wheel drive ('all-wheel' drive cannot be relied upon in the hills). Guests will need their own transportation. Public transportation is unavailable; however, wine tours can be arranged that provide a car & driver (if tasting is a serious avocation). We maintain a "Where to Go/What to Do" binder for those who prefer to read printed information rather than search digital sites. Our famil(ies) have pets & we want our home to be available to guests who wish to share their holidays with their own dogs. However, as pet people, we know accidents can happen (& wear & tear on rugs, floors & carpets occurs) and so there is a separate Pet Security Deposit ($100./nonrefundable) and an expectation that only well trained pets will be included as guests. A maximum of two dogs allowed. The Retreat has a monitored security system which is easy to understand and important to use. Upon completion of the reservation process, details will be provided (by email, a week before your rental period begins). This is our family home so it is available for a MAXIMUM OF TWO WEEKS on any visit. We assume guests will be respectful while staying here. We are a non-smoking family, though (using caution) smoking on the deck is permitted. We live in a forest and that requires smokers to use ash trays and to be vigilant about lighted cigarettes & hot ash! (Our home is not stocked with ash trays.) Though our location appears isolated from all but one other home, in fact sound carries in the forest and guests are requested to keep their conversations (and dog barking) quiet when outside after 10 p.m. & before 8 a.m. Within these general caveats, 'House Rules' are to relax and enjoy yourselves!

As mentioned above this house is unique and one of a kind. You, your family, and friends will LOVE taking advantage of the covered outside warm patio watching the snow fall in the winter or watching the sun rise and set in the summer listening to the chirping birds, watching the squirrels chase each other, and seeing the deer snack on the trees. When staying here you are 10 minutes from Apple Hill and the wine country tasting trail of all the wonderful wineries around here, 10 minutes from Jenkinson Lake where you can walk the 8.5 mile trail around the lake, simply walk to the waterfall about .5 miles in, go and have a nice picnic, go for a swim, paddle board, kayak, boat, fish, whatever your heart desires, 45 minutes from South Lake Tahoe, and 15 minutes from historic Placerville. Not to mention all the countless other beautiful lakes and trails within an hour radius.

This is the the bottom level of my home. There are steps down with it's own outside entrance. Not wheel chair accessible. It has one bedroom with queen size bed, a desk, living room with a fold out couch, a full bathroom with shower, hair dryer, and towels, linens, mini frig, microwave, French press, kettle, deck, and backyard with fire pit. This can sleep up to 4 and PETS ARE WELCOME WITH A PET FEE OF $25. ABSOLUTELY NO CIGARETTE SMOKING ANYWHERE ON MY PROPERTY. I do have a steep driveway, so if you have a trailer, I would need to know in advance and ask my neighbor if you can park in their driveway. This is beautiful quiet spot were you can listen to the birds, watch the squirrels and see deer in the early evening. 2 mins away is Safeway, CVS, restaurants, nail salon, gas station, True Value, auto parts store and repair. 8 mins to Jenkins Lake; boating, hiking, bike, and horse trails. 10 mins to Apple Hill and golf course. 20 mins to Placerville. 30 mins to Wrights Lake. 40 mins to Sierra Ski Resort. One hour to South Lake Tahoe and an hour and a half to Genoa that has a great historic bar.

Be aware that in the winter during a storm, to access our neighborhood, you may need four wheel drive with snow tires or chains on a regular vehicle.  Our streets are maintained by the county and are plowed during or after storms; however, there will still be some snow to drive through.  (Check out the photos). We recommend that you bring your food and beverage supplies with you.  It's not always easy to "run down the hill" to the nearest store in Meyers (7 miles east on highway 50) during snow events.  Our home is equipped with a generator that will automatically come on during a power outage. In the winter, you may go on breathtaking hikes, snowshoeing, sledding or just play in the snow piled up around our own property! Our cabin has ample parking in the garage and in front of the property. Feel free to bring your own boat and as many cars as you please! Stunning Fallen Leaf Lake beauty located at the very south end of Fallen Leaf Lake near the boat docks, boat and kayak rentals, and market that features a small cafe! This 3000 square foot home features 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, a private master suite with a gas burning fireplace, and a large open Living/Conversation room with tons of seating, unfortunately there is no cable due to where this home is located but there are smart TV's and internet, and a wood burning fireplace. The home is 3 levels with the mid-level being the living room, kitchen, dining room, full bathroom, 2 built-in single beds, and 2 queen bedrooms. (***The 2 queen bedrooms on the mid-level are very small without a closet. There are hooks to hang clothes but no closet or dresser. These 2 bedrooms are perfect for older children as they have direct access to the deck but may not be as comfortable for an adult couple***) There is a nice deck for relaxing while sitting among the pines and aspens on this level as well. Upstairs is the master suite and another queen bedroom, plus there is a loft area with 2 queen beds, they have drapes for privacy but are certainly not private. The bottom floor is the Family/TV room that has a large Flat screen TV with plenty of bean bags for relaxation. There is also a queen bedroom and another full bathroom. Just a few minutes walk to the prestigious Fallen Leaf Lake and you get to enjoy the comforts of the private Home Owner's Association beach, picnic area with fire pit, and swimming area with floating dock. Also just a few minutes walking distance away is the market where you can get simple goods (We recommend doing your major food shopping prior to heading to the home because its about 25 minutes from South Lake Tahoe) but some basic items are available. There is also a small cafe where you can get sandwiches and other goodies. There are boat and kayak rentals available as well just a few steps from the market area. This summer home is just amazing, your group of 14 people (12 adults only please, unlimited # of children under 5 years old are OK) because you will never want to leave this area. In addition to the beaches and lake there is an unlimited # of hiking trails with gorgeous waterfalls and swimming holes. Enjoy! MAXIMUM CARS ALLOWED=3 CARS IN THE PARKING LOT. There are 2 assigned parking spaces and one guest spot. The parking area is located about 50 yards from the house but you can load and unload at the house, just no overnight parking next to the home is allowed. ***Please note: Due to the location of this house, the only internet option is satellite, it is not the best service and can be intermittently down or just slow.
